Morristown Mall's cracking down on unsupervised youth, disturbances

April 3rd, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

The Morristown Citizen-Tribune is reporting that College Square Mall’s Youth Escort Policy — intended to put a halt to the rising number of unsupervised youth and related disturbances during week-end nights — begins tomorrow at 6 p.m.

All visitors under 18 years of age are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years or older at all times on Friday and Saturday evenings after 6 p.m., according to the rules posted at the entrances to the mall. Workers under 18 who are employed by retailers located in the mall will be required to carry identification while at the mall during that time.

All youth, regardless of age, will have complete access to Carmike Cinema 12 during its normal operating hours, mall management reiterated today. However, youth will not be allowed to congregate at mall common areas, including all parking lot and sidewalk areas.

Security will begin monitoring those entering the property at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. Unescorted youth must leave the property by that time or be joined by a parent or guardian.
