Big rig overturns on I-26

March 24th, 2009 12:00 am by Erica Yoon

A tractor trailer overturned on I-26 near the Rock Springs Road Exit this morning, blocking one lane of  traffic for almost three hours.

According to Kingsport Police Officer Aaron Grimes the truck's driver, Lester Duncan, no age or address available, suffered minor injuries during the wreck, but was not taken to the hospital.

Police said Duncan lost control of the big rig when  it drifted onto the shoulder of the road. It then overturned and came to rest on its top.

The truck was carrying a shipment of PETG plastic pellets from Eastman's Kingsport manufacturing plant to the Port of Charleston. PETG is used to make various plastic items, such as outdoor signs.
