ROGERSVILLE — A Rogersville woman was hospitalized Friday evening when her car ran her over while she was dumping trash at the Hawkins County Department of Solid Waste convenience center on Route 113 near the Persia community.

According to a report filed by Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Keith Long, Pauline Davis, 69, 8015 Route 66-N, Eidson, stopped at the convenience center at 309 Route 113, Rogersville, on Friday evening.

Davis apparently stopped her 2001 Toyota Camry near a dumpster then got out of the vehicle and walked to the trunk to take out a bag of trash.

“Ms. Davis states that the car began to roll, at which time she tried to get back inside the car to stop it from rolling, but she slipped and fell underneath the car,” Long stated in his report. “Charlie Davis, an employee at the convenience center, stated that he heard a female yelling and then observed the vehicle sitting on top of the victim’s legs.”

Long stated in his report that an unidentified male helped push the car off of Davis’ legs. The man told Charlie Davis that the car had been left in neutral.

Pauline Davis was transported by Hawkins County EMS to Hawkins County Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for bruises and abrasions and released.
