According to the Bristol Herald Courier Scott Millspaugh was too high on adrenaline to consider whether his life was in jeopardy when he towed a fiery boat from a Friendship Resort and Marina boathouse.
He had eased into the night watching television from his couch. Just 20 minutes later, he was piloting a tow boat as a firefighter leaned over the railing and used a 12-foot pole to pull the floating fireball into South Holston Lake.
The fast action likely saved more than 40 other boats. Three boats were destroyed, and three more were scorched. Portions of the wooden dock and a 30-foot section of the boathouse’s metal roof were destroyed.
Owners of the destroyed and damaged boats gathered at the marina around noon Wednesday for interviews with Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency game wardens, who are investigating the fire.
