Driver extricated from car in Kingsport wreck on Monday; three transported for treatment

February 9th, 2009 12:00 am by Rain Smith

A two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Stone Drive and Gibson Mill Road sent three people to the hospital on Monday.

The collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. According to Kingsport Police Officer Dale Farmer, a green Saturn traveling west on Stone Drive failed to stop at a red light. The car then hit a Ford Escape that was turning left onto Stone Drive from Gibson Mill Road.

The driver of the Saturn, her passenger and driver of the Ford were transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment. Farmer said the only serious injuries were to the driver of the Saturn, Amy Walters, 27, of Kingsport. She reportedly has multiple fractures to her lower extremities.

Farmer said Walters will be charged with running the red light. CLICK THE BOX BELOW for video from the scene.
