Ex-Greeneville, Carson-Newman basketball standout among 9 arrested in crack cocaine investigation

According to the Greeneville Sun nine people appeared in U.S. District Court Thursday  on federal drug conspiracy charges.

Greene County Sheriff Steve Burns, who attended the initial appearances along with Greeneville Police Chief Terry Cannon, said the charges were the result of a multi-agency drug investigation.

But Burns and Cannon said they could not comment on specifics of the case.

Judge Dennis Inman said defendants Michael Brobeck, 30; Jessica Brobeck, 28; Alberto Campos, 47; Braun Dabbs, 25; and Murrell Tyus, 22 were named in a federal indictment charging them with conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine.

Dabbs is a former standout Greeneville High School athlete who played basketball at Carson-Newman College.
