According to the Bristol Herald-Courier Akard Elementary School parents broke into a frenzy Wednesday when one of them saw a posting on TriCities.com.
The message on the Web site was simple: During a day-long workshop, the Sullivan County Board of Education discussed a realignment plan that called for their school’s closure.
Akard parents will air their concerns at 7 p.m. today in what Webster called an “emergency PTA meeting” in the school’s cafeteria. She said Director of Schools Jack Barnes, Board of Education Chairman Ron Smith and school Human Resources Director Larry Hall are expected to attend.
