According to a report in the Morristown Citizen-Tribune Rep. Phil Roe said before he took office that he hoped one of his committee appointments would include the House Veterans Affairs Committee, where he believed his experience as both a physician and a veteran would be immeasurable.
He was granted his wish Thursday.
"I wanted to see Congressman Roe on the Veterans Affairs Committee," said John Boehner, Republican Minority Leader. "For a new member of Congress, these committees are a huge responsibility, but not every freshman member is like Phil. He is hardworking, articulate and a true champion for his district. I am confident that he will do an excellent job, and I look forward to working with him more in the days to come."
