January 19th, 2009 12:00 am by Staff Report

According to a report in the Greeneville Sun a 21 year-old man was killed Friday night and two other men were injured in a shootout in the basement of a Greeneville home.

 Zachary Ryan Nave, 21, has been identified as the man who was killed.

Sheriff Steve Burns said the shootings happened in the  basement of a home at 2415 Cutoff.

Burns said investigators had not yet determined who fired the shots that killed Nave and wounded the two other men, but he said an exchange of gunshots between the two groups of people took place.

The sheriff also said marijuana was found at the residence, but did not elaborate on how much of the controlled substance was found.

The men who were injured were identified as:

- Brendan A. Royer, also of 2415 107 Cutoff, who was shot in the foot and flown Friday night by Wings Air Rescue to the Johnson City Medical Center, and;

- Travis D. Monroe 20, of Freshour Trailer Park in Chuckey, who was shot four times in a reported confrontation with Nave and Royer, and was in JCMC's intensive-care unit on Saturday afternoon.
