Teen linked to home invasion, beating of elderly woman assaulted in jail

December 29th, 2008 12:00 am by Staff Report

The Morristown Citizen-Tribune is reporting that what seems like some Christmas Day jail house justice was meted out against a teenager  allegedly involved with the beating and robbery of 96-year-old Selma Harville.

Amber Bryant, 18, was arrested Dec. 23 and charged with criminal responsibility for especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. She is accused of helping plan a home-invasion attack on the elderly Rosedale Avenue woman.

The Citizen-Tribune report  says Bryant told jailers  she overheard two other inmates, Jennifer Watson, 22, and Jessica Lane, 23, talking about "jumping" her. When she attempted to contact a Hamblen Conty Jail deputy to report what she had overheard the attack was put in motion.

Bryant told deputies she was pulled into the  bathroom and  punched  in the face. The two inmates allegedly punched and kicked Bryant while she was on the ground then dragged her into the shower where by her hair.
