Greene County man gets 10 years for 2007 vehicular homicide

A Greene County man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and other charges related to a 2007 police chase in which another motorists, John F. Robinette, was killed has been sentended to 10 years in prison.

The Greeneville Sun is reporting that Third Judicial District Criminal Court Judge John Dugger Jr. accepted guilty pleas from Todd Andrew Mathes, 37, of 1520 Nolichuckey Road, on Nov. 26 after Mathes entered a "best interest" plea.

Mathes also pleaded guilty under a plea agreement to charges of theft over $1,000, theft under $500, and evading arrest.

He agreed to a 10-year sentence on the vehicular homicide charge and a two-year sentence on the other charges as part of the plea agreement. The sentences are to be served at the same time, resulting in an effective sentence of 10 years, according to court records.
