Angry inmates force lockdown of Hawkins County Jail

According to Tricities.com the Hawkins County Jail was put on lockdown this morning.


The lockdown followed inmates beating on their cells and burning items inside the cells, which caused part of the jail to fill with smoke.


The inmates were apparently still angry about a weekend search at the jial that turned up knives and tobacco products in  the cells.
Nineteen inmates were placed in maximum security after the seach.
According to the report, no officers are in danger.
