Chuckey man run over by truck on his farm

Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal reports a Chuckey, Tenn., man has been airlifted for medical care following a farming accident.

The accident occurred on a farm near the intersection of Peppermill Road and Clyde Laws Road in Washington County. J.D. Wilhoit, 85, of 260 Peppermill Road, was opening a gate to allow access to a fertilizer truck. While opening the gate, Wilhoit slipped and fell under the right rear axle of the fertilizer truck.

According to a press release, Wilhoit sustained injuries and was air-lifted to Johnson City Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.

No charges have been filed, and the accident is under investigation by the
Washington County Sheriff's Office C.R.A.S.H Team.
