Judge allows more time for plea agreement in Sullivan North embezzlement case

A Sullivan County judge has once again reset the date for a plea agreement to be reached between prosecutors and a former Sullivan North teacher and assistant band director accused of embezzling money from the band booster fund.

Greg White, 35, appeared in Sullivan County court today after the judge last reset the deadline on Dec. 12.

"We're still negotiating," Sullivan County Assistant District Attorney William Harper said Friday.

White was indicted Oct. 30 on two counts of forgery, one count of theft over $500, and four worthless check charges weeks after an Oct. 2 conviction in a Bristol, Va., court on related charges of uttering and obtaining money by fraud.

He was sentenced to two years of supervised probation, and the judge suspended a four-year prison term in that case.

A new announcement date has been set for Feb. 15, Harper said.
