Three local volunteer fire departments worked for just over four hours to contain a brush fire Saturday evening.
The Embreeville Volunteer Fire Department responded to 143 Creek Road about 4:14 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports that some land was burning.
Embreeville, along with the Nolichucky and Southside volunteer fire departments, eventually contained the blaze, but about 30 acres were burned.
No one was injured and no property damage occurred. Most of what burned was debris.
Embreeville left the scene at 8:50 Saturday night.
Authorities were not sure what caused the fire.
When the fire was first reported there was some concern that houses were in danger, but the U.S. Forestry Service helped establish a containment line and firefighters eventually extinguished the flames.
