Six arrested in Johnson City prostitution raid

A special investigations squad of the Johnson City Police Department corralled six people Friday evening and Saturday morning during a prostitution investigation.

Police concentrated on the area surrounding 515 E. Fairview Ave. and the bus station at 137 W. Market St.

Arrested in the raid were: Bryan M. Leonard, 34, of 141 E. Market St., Johnson City, charged with promoting prostitution, bond set at $10,000; Fred W. Carr, 40, of 151 E. Fairview Ave., charged with promoting prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia, bond set at $11,000; Denna J. Grindstaff, 34, of 515 E. Fairvew Ave., charged with aggravated prostitution, bond set at $5,000; and Natasha D. Baker, 25, of 515 E. Fairview Ave., charged with prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia, bond set at $2,000.

The four were taken to Washington County Detention Center.

They are scheduled to appear in Washington County Sessions Court Monday afternoon. Two others: Sheri D. Wedel, 39, of 521 Brookwood Drive, Bristol; and Angela H. Aukes, 36, of 515 E. Fairview Ave., were charged with prostitution, but were not arrested.

They were issued citations and ordered to appear in General Sessions Court on Sept. 13.
