A Mountain City man who spent months in an Elizabethton couple's home allegedly stole over $10,000 worth of items from the wife of the residence and gave the stolen goods to his ex-girlfriend and his mother.

Jeremy Lee Lunceford is charged with allegedly stealing over $10,000 worth of goods from the couple's North Sycamore Street home while living there from Sept. 2006 to April 2007.

Lunceford's mother and ex-girlfriend apparently realized what happened when items stolen from their mutual friends' home matched gifts given to them by Lunceford, according to Elizabethton Police Captain Rusty Verran.

On July 25, the couple went to police with the information Lunceford's ex-girlfriend and mother had given them and reported the theft of sterling silver flatware in a cherry box, a video camera, a 1.5-carat princess-cut diamond cluster wedding band and a faux fur coat from their home.

On Aug. 14, Lunceford, 28, last known address 1481 Swift Hollow Road in Mountain City, was charged with theft over $10,000 as a result of the Elizabethton Police Department's investigation.

As for the stolen items, Verran said, "They (Lunceford's mother and ex-girlfriend) got them back to the victims."

Lunceford is scheduled to appear Aug. 17 in Carter County General Sessions Court.
