North Carolina man, three Johnson City residents arrested on crack cocaine charges

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, members of the 1st Judicial District Drug Task Force nabbed a North Carolina man and three Johnson City residents on charges alleging they sold crack cocaine on three occasions to undercover officers.



The four arrested include a Jonesville, North Carolina man, Christopher Trent Martin, 39, of 601 Mineral Springs Drive, who faces charges of possession with intent to sell over .5 grams of crack cocaine and conspiracy to distribute schedule II drugs.



The remaining three, all from Johnson City, are Clarence Elmor Benson, 32, of 412 9th Avenue; Crystal Dawn Barnes, 26, of 102 New Street; and Robert Eugene Mathes, 46, of East Chilhowie Avenue.



Benson and Barnes each are also charged with possession with intent to sell over .5 grams of crack cocaine and conspiracy to distribute schedule II drugs.
Mathes faces a single charge of possession with intent to sell over .5 grams of crack cocaine.



Martin, Benson and Barnes each are being held on $20,000 bond. Mathes' bond is set at $10,000. All four are scheduled to appear in Johnson City General Sessions Court Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 1:30 p.m.
