A West Sullivan Street collision near the intersection of Belvue Avenue early Tuesday morning leaves one dead and one injured, according to a press release.

Frank W. Sandidge was traveling east in a 1995 Toyota pickup when he reportedly crossed the center line to pass a vehicle parked by the roadside.

The truck collided head on with a 1993 Cadillac driven by Carmella Q. Holtsclaw of Kingsport, who suffered a broken ankle.

Both drivers were taken to Holston Valley Hospital for treatment.

Sandidge, 74, died as a result of his injuries. Kingsport Police said in a press release he was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, and speed also was a contributing factor.
