According to Kingsport Police, a car went through a chain link fence and metal guard rail before pinballing off several new vehicles in a car dealership's lot.
At about 7:50 this morning, Karen J. Short, 49, of Kingsport, was driving her car outside Burlington Coat Factory. Her 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo exited the parking lot and went through a fence and guard rail that separate Burlington 's property from that of Courtesy Chevrolet.
Short's car continued straight, striking a 2007 Chevrolet truck in the rear. That pick-up rotated and struck the left side of another truck parked beside it. Short's Monte Carlo then pushed the original truck in to the rear of a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban.
Short's car continued across the parking lot before striking air conditioning units behind the Courtesy sales office, coming to a stop. Short received very minor injuries.
Police did not cite what caused the incident, but do not suspect drugs or alcohol. They say no charges will be filed.
"The way police figure it the lady blacked out and ran through a bunch of our vehicles," said Courtesy Chevrolet General Manager Scott Manning. "But no one was hurt, and that's the main thing. We can always replace vehicles."
