Tenn. man sentenced in Lee County church burglary

A Tennessee man was sentenced Wednesday in Lee County Circuit Court to six months in prison for his role in a church burglary.


Ronnie Allen Rose, 23, of Harrogate, was originally charged with break and enter, grand larceny and two counts of conspiracy for his role in a burglary at Gibson Station Baptist Church.


One conspiracy charge was dismissed, and Rose pleaded guilty to the remaining charges. He was sentenced to eight years in the Virginia State Penitentiary on each of the charges.


he court allowed the sentences to be served concurrently then suspended 7½ years of the time in lieu of five years of supervised probation. Rose was also ordered to complete the day reporting program and seek drug abuse counseling.


He was further ordered to find employment within 60 days of his release and to pay $1,100 in restitution to the church. Rose was also sentenced to 12 months in jail, with eight months suspended, on a misdemeanor charge of destruction of property at the church.


That sentence was allowed to be served concurrently with the felony sentence.
