The space shuttle Flying Dutchman took off from Tri-Cities Regional Airport Saturday afternoon after an emergency landing necessitated by failure of a flux capacitor.
French astronaut and shuttle Captain Paul Sere LaVec said the crew enjoyed their brief stay at Tri-Cities "except when they made us take our shoes off to run them through the X-Ray. We'd been wearing those same socks for seven days."
The shuttle had been orbiting over Kingsport observing an unidentified flying object, which may be seen in the western sky tonight about a half-hour after sunset.
