Piney Flats man accused of 50 counts of statutory rape with one girl, two boys

Sullivan County deputies arrested a Piney Flats man Thursday on 50 counts of statutory rape and two counts of sexual battery for allegedly having sex with three different teens.

David Wyant, 39, of 2820 Rocky Springs Rd., Piney Flats, is jailed on a $100,000 bond.

Investigators began looking into allegations in late January that Wyant had sexual contact with the juveniles, a 14-year-old female, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, Sullivan County Sheriff's Det. Marshall Crank said.

When Wyant was arrested, the female victim was in his car, Crank said.

Investigators said the sexual activity took place in Wyant's car. He would apparently drive one of the teens to a location he could park and the incidents would occur there.

"There was somewhat of a long-term relationship with the girl...they claimed they were in love with each other," Crank said.

Wyant apparently knew the teens through their familes or friends.

The juveniles cooperated during the investigation, Crank said, and gave statements confirming the sexual acts occurred with Wyant.

He's accused of forcing himself on one of the male juvneiles, Crank said.

Wyant was arraigned in a jailhouse hearing Thursday and will have a preliminary hearing in Bristol General Sessions Court next month.
