A Hawkins County man whose lamb was killed by three dogs running at large earlier this week has been advised to seek private prosecution of the dogs' owner.
Greg Calhoun told Hawkins County Sheriff' Office Deputy Richard Chandler Monday that three dogs had come onto his property on Lloyds Chapel Road near Mount Carmel and killed a lamb valued at $150.
Calhoun told the deputy he fired a gunshot at one of the dogs as it ran off.
Calhoun told the deputy the dogs were lying in a yard on Hermitage Lane.
Chandler then spoke to the owner of the property, who said the dogs belonged to a neighbor. The neighbor was not home.
Chandler stated in his report that Calhoun was advised of his rights to seek private prosecution of the dogs' owner for allowing animals to run at large.
