KINGSPORT - Ole South Style Shop has moved to a new location at 4032 Fort Henry Drive, in the Century 21 Plaza behind Pizza Hut in Colonial Heights.
Owner Jeffrey Burke said he hopes to preserve the small town barber shop environment at the facility and establish friendships with his customers.
"Bring your barber stories or maybe just your fish tales and come by Ole South Style Shop for a great cut and some lively conversation," Burke said.
Burke is a master barber who has several years of experience in the business. The shop also features another master barber, Bobby Ledford.
Burke and Ledford focus on old-style barber services, including cuts and straight-razor shaves. They specialize in long hair, short hair, military cuts, flat tops, bald and temporal fades, ethnic hair, beard trims, shaves, and scalp treatments.
The shop is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Appointments are also available after hours from 5 to 7 p.m. for those unable to visit the shop during normal operating hours.
Haircuts cost $9, and cuts for kids five and under cost $5. Burke said he also offers "half the hair - half the price" for men who are balding or have their heads shaved.
The shop previously was located in a smaller facility on Fort Henry Drive. Burke said his new location offers more space and updated decor.
Burke said he plans to honor all barbers from the Tri-Cities area who have retired or passed on. He has dedicated an "honor wall" at the new shop and asks that customers bring in any photos of "legendary barbers."
Burke and Ledford are both military veterans and offer specials for fellow veterans. Burke is a decorated U.S. Army 82nd Airborne veteran who served in Desert Storm. He is a graduate of Kingsport Beauty School and the Knoxville Institute of Hair Design.
Ledford is a U.S. Navy veteran and graduate of the Knoxville Institute of Hair Design.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are available. For more information, call Ole South Style Shop at (423) 247-8581.
