Weber City man accused of sex offenses back behind bars

May 4th, 2007 11:54 pm by CLIFFORD JEFFERY

GATE CITY - A 34-year-old Weber City man accused of sexually assaulting young boys is back in jail after being free for just two days.

Curtis Page, 34, of 211 N. Dogwood St., Weber City, was arrested April 27 on multiple charges of sodomy and aggravated sexual assault of a child. Page posted a $25,000 bond shortly after it was set by a juvenile court judge on April 30.

By Thursday, investigators had discovered that Page had contacted a boy. Although not a violation of his bond, officials with the Scott County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office believed Page presented a risk to society and to himself.

Page's bond was revoked, and he was taken back into custody on Thursday.

Page is charged with one count of sodomy and five counts of aggravated sexual battery against three boys ranging in age from 11 to 13 years old.

Page was convicted last year on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was sentenced to a year of supervised probation.

The sexual assault charges against him now occurred prior to that conviction, said Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Dan Fellhauer. Page cannot be charged with a violation of that probation because he performed these acts before he was sentenced on those charges, Fellhauer said.

For each of the five alleged aggravated sexual assaults, Page could face from one to 20 years in prison. On the sodomy charge, he could face five years to life in prison.

Fellhauer said he believes there are more victims who have not yet come forward.

Page's attorney, Sid Rhoton, has requested a psychological evaluation of his client. Page's preliminary examination is currently scheduled for June 27, but the evaluation may set that date back, Fellhauer said.
