LPR to reopen

• COEBURN, Va. - A press conference and driver meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Lonesome Pine Raceway to announce the reopening of the track.

Former Volunteer Speedway track manager Doug Gillenwater is expected to be announced as the new track manager, and he will be discussing with drivers and the media plans for the 2007 season at LPR including an opening day of races of May 12.

The track closed at the end of the 2005 season, and reportedly has been leased for one year with an option to buy by an anonymous businessman. Drivers have been encouraged to bring their cars Saturday, and a free open practice will be held following the meeting.
