TUSCALOOSA, Ala. â€“â€“ The Tri-City Metro Advertising Federation recently announced the results of the 2006-2007 District Addy Awards. Of the 33 Gold entries forwarded to compete on the district level, more than 20 percent were recognized for excellence. Members of the TCMAF garnered three Gold awards and four Silver. Gold Addys from the student categories netted two Silver Addys. Gold Addys were presented to Creative Energy for Pal's 50th Anniversary T-shirts and Pal's Web site, and Fresh Air Photography for the Inn at Biltmore Estate. Silver Addys were presented to Tim Cox Photography for Daddy's Hands; ntara Inc. for Cingular Wireless' 2006 Holiday eCard; Hillhouse Graphic Design for Old Salem Tall Cookie Tubes Packaging; and Creative Energy for Edwards & Associates' Holiday Card. Silver Student Addys were given to Katherine Boyd for Rock, Paper or Scissors, and Jonathan Parsons for Blueberry Game. The Addy Awards showcase the region's best television, print, radio, Web and other advertising and marketing communications. "To have award-winning entries compete with others from five states and receive such high acknowledgement is a great feat," said Scott Emerine, 2006 TCMAF president. "The creative talent in this area is significant, and such competitions reinforce this market's strength." Gold winners at the district level will be automatically forwarded to the national competition, which will be held in June in Louisville, Ky.
NASHVILLE - Captain D's Seafood has won a 2007 Nation's Restaurant News "MenuMasters Award" in the category of "Best Menu Revamp." Nation's Restaurant News is an industry trade publication. Its annual "MenuMasters Awards" identify and recognize research and development executives and their respective companies for "outstanding dedication and achievement in product introductions that set new standards in the industry based on menu innovation, unique use of ingredients, unusual cooking methods and menu extensions." In the past year, Captain D's menu has undergone a complete rejuvenation, promoting more diversity in selection. In addition to its signature classic, hand-battered fish, shrimp and other seafood items, Captain D's added a host of new grilled items including Alaskan salmon, tilapia, farm-raised catfish and shrimp skewers. The lunch menu also received a boost with new items such as the salmon ciabatta sandwich. New pasta dishes include zesty shrimp scampi, creamy shrimp and broccoli Alfredo, shrimp marinara and classic chicken parmesan pasta. Captain D's has also doubled the number of side items to 14. The award will be presented in May at the Drake Hotel in Chicago at the Nation's Restaurant News 10th annual MenuMasters Awards Ceremony. Winning menu items will be prepared by the Drake Hotel chef and tasted by event attendees.
KINGSPORT - Comfort Keepers of Kingsport recently instituted a monthly caregiver award to recognize outstanding service. Local franchise owners M.D. and Elvera McCue have announced that Joan McClain has been named the first local Comfort Keepers Caregiver of the Month. McClain joined Comfort Keepers in March 2005, and according to the McCues, has proven herself time and time again as consistently going the "extra mile" for clients she has been assigned as a companion and caregiver. Comfort Keepers provides companionship, light housekeeping, transportation and personal care to clients.
KINGSPORT - Edward Jones financial adviser G. Leslie Wright announced recently that a second financial adviser, Brian Murray, has joined his office here. Wright said in a news release Murray impressed him, and Murray said he looked forward to working with Wright and meeting investors in the area. Murray will work out of Wright's office over the next few months.
