Alliance launches print media campaign
BLOUNTVILLE - The Regional Alliance for Economic Development has launched what a news release called an aggressive print media campaign in major national and international economic development publications. "Our objective is to emphasize the geographic location of the region along with the outstanding infrastructure system and unique quality of life in this 10-county area in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia," said Andy Burke, president and chief executive officer of the alliance. The print ads will run in Trade & Industry Development, Business Facilities, Area Development and Site Selection magazines. "These publications have controlled circulations and reach site location consultants and corporate real estate executives," Burke said. The new ad will also run in the annual Tennessee Economic Development Guide published by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The Alliance's mission is to plan, develop and implement an aggressive and focused global marketing strategy, leverage regional recruiting efforts, support local economic development organizations, facilitate the creation of high-quality jobs, attract new capital investment, improve per-capita income and to promote, identify and position the region to successfully compete in the global marketplace. JOHNSON CITY - The Creative Energy Group Inc. recently picked up three advertising excellence awards at the District 7 ADDY Awards of the American Advertising Federation held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The recognition includes two top awards for campaigns for Pal's Sudden Service, a regional fast food chain. These campaigns will now be entered into the national advertising awards competition. The agency won a Gold ADDY for the creation of a new consumer-focused Web site for Kingsport-based Pal's Sudden Service (www.pals- web.com) and for the design of a series of commemorative T-shirts for the 2006 celebration of Pal's 50th anniversary. The agency also earned a Silver ADDY for the design of a holiday card for Edwards & Associates of Piney Flats. Last year, Creative Energy earned top Southeast honors for ad campaigns developed for Texas Pete Hot Sauce. Headed by Creative Director Marne Brobeck, the Pal's campaigns were developed by a team including: Bob Barnwell, Jon Hounshell and Teresa Treadway. KINGSPORT - The Greater Tri-Cities Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Crazy Tomato, 4250 Fort Henry Drive. NASHVILLE - Foot Locker Inc., which wants to expand into the specialty footwear sector, went public Friday with an unsolicited $1.2 billion cash bid for retailer Genesco Inc. The $46-per-share bid represents a 26 percent premium to Genesco's average share price during the one-year period prior to April 4, when Foot Locker first sent a letter to Nashville-based Genesco expressing takeover interest. Genesco said it will evaluate the proposal with its financial adviser Goldman Sachs.
