Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen will attend a breakfast meeting presented by the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with the Kingsport, Bristol and Johnson City/Jonesborough/Washington County chambers of commerce at 8 a.m. at MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort and Convention Center. Kingsport Gateway Review committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Bob Clear Conference Room, Market Street, Kingsport. Call Forrest Koder at 229-9486.


Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen will speak during a Southern Appalachian Greenways Alliance Presentation at 10:30 a.m. at the Kingsport Greenbelt Riverfront Park picnic area, Netherland Inn Road.


Kiwanis Club of Kingsport will meet at noon at the Americourt Hotel, off Stone Drive, Kingsport. The club will play host to a Kingsport Board of Education forum.


Earth Day Recycle Fair/Great Kingsport Cleanup, featuring cleanup of Greenbelt trail, creek and parking lot area, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon beginning at the Greenbelt parking lot at Stonebrook Place, adjacent to Frontier Industries. Bring trash cans, cardboard, used clothing and used motor oil to be recycled. Children's activities planned. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 979 will meet at 2 p.m. in the Fun Fest Room at the Kingsport Civic Auditorium, Fort Henry Drive. Membership is open to all male and female veterans who served from 1962-1975 at any duty station.


Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver's license roadside safety checkpoints on State Route 44 in Sullivan County through April 28.
