KINGSPORT - Rathi Narayan, M.D., gastroenterologist, has joined the staff of Gastroenterology Associates of Kingsport, 135 W. Ravine Road.
A native of India, she completed her fellowship and residency in gastroenterology at Norwalk Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine in Norwalk, Conn. She also completed a fellowship in advanced biliary endoscopy at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Narayan completed internships at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Mich., and at Bangalore Medical University, Bangalore, India. She received her medical degree from Mysore University Medical College in Davangere, India.
Her medical accomplishments include published articles in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, and participating in immunization drives and medical camps in rural India. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology.
JOHNSON CITY - Paula M. Claytore, who has held the position of senior director, managed care and cost accounting, with Mountain States Health Alliance since 2001, has been promoted to MSHA assistant vice president.
Her responsibilities have included overseeing system-wide managed care contracting between MSHA facilities and hospital-owned physician practices and insurance companies; system-wide cost accounting functions; and responsibility for division health plans and Health Alliance PHO. Claytore is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Claytore and her family live in Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Jill Cates was recently named operations manager for the Mid-South Long Term Care Insurance Group with Genworth Financial, 801 Sunset Drive.
Cates has 18 years of experience in managed health care and is a licensed producer for both health and life insurance. She previously worked for John Deere Health Care as the regional customer service manager for the Mid-South Division.
