BRISTOL. Tenn. - An unusual coincidence stifled a stolen car investigation in Bristol, Tenn., Sunday shortly after the Food City 500. According to police, a woman filed a stolen car report with officers when she returned to her parking place and found her car missing. The name of the victim was not available. A short time later, however, officers located the same make and model vehicle, and upon running the license plate through the computer, found that it was registered to a woman with the same name as the victim. Police then conducted a "felony stop" on the suspected stolen vehicle, only to find that this individual happened to have the same name and drive the same type of car as the victim. The suspect was released, and as of late Sunday evening the stolen vehicle had not been recovered.
