HARROGATE, Tenn. - Lincoln Memorial University golf coach Travis Muncy has been named the 2006 Knoxville Chapter PGA Golf Professional of the Year and honored with a Merchandiser of the Year award.
Muncy is an active member of the Tennessee Section PGA and has served as the Knoxville Chapter president for the past two years. He has been a part of the PGA for 13 years and has served on the chapter board of directors for seven years.
This is the first-time he has been honored with the group's annual awards.
Muncy took the helm of the Railsplitter golf program in 2003 and the Lady Railsplitter program in 2005. He has led the Railsplitters to three invitational titles, and three of his players have won medalist honors during his tenure.
His Lady Railsplitters have tallied two titles of their own, with one player bringing home medalist honors.
Muncy also teaches golf for LMU's physical education department.
A native of Harrogate, Muncy received an associate of applied science degree from Walters State Community College in 1996 and a bachelor of business administration degree from LMU in 1998.
