Wellmont Health System's Marsh Regional Blood Center will hold public blood drives from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sullivan South High School, Kingsport, and from 1 to 6 p.m. at Food City, Wise. Donors must be 17 or older, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be in good health. Call 224-5888.


East Tennessee Environment Conference will begin at 9 a.m. at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center, Kingsport, with a welcome address from Kingsport Mayor Dennis Phillips and opening keynote address by Jim Fyke, commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Dr. Randy Wykoff, dean of the ETSU College of Public and Allied Health, will be the keynote speaker at 11:30 a.m. Sessions will last from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.


Washington County Commission budget committee will meet at 9 a.m. in the conference room at the Washington County Office Building, Jonesborough.


Washington County Library, Gray, will offer story time for children 3 to 5 at 10 a.m. and for children 18 to 35 months at 11 a.m. with the theme "Over the Rainbow."


Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen will hold a called work session at 6 p.m. in the large courtroom at Kingsport City Hall. The agenda includes receiving information on the higher education center. Call David Light at 229-9372.


Surgoinsville Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Surgoinsville City Hall.


Kingsport Regional Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. in the council room at Kingsport City Hall. Call Tonya Fletcher at 229-9485.


Sullivan County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. at the Sullivan County Archives, Blountville. Historian W. Dale Carter, who has researched and plotted onto topographical maps the original land grants and patents in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, will speak.


Lee-Piedmont Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will meet at 7 p.m. at the Lee County School Board office conference room. The public is invited.

Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver's license roadblocks on U.S. Highway 11-W and Colonial Road in Hawkins County through March 22.
