KINGSPORT - Goodwill Industries of Tenneva Area Inc. has been accredited for three years for its Employment Services Program; Community Employment Services Program; Job Development, Job Site Training, Job Support and Employee Development Services Program; and Organizational Employment Services Program.
The accreditation is from CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), an independent, nonprofit accrediting body. This is the first accreditation that the international commission has awarded to the local Goodwill.
The accreditation is the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization's substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF.
The accreditation requires a rigorous peer review process and demonstration to a team of surveyors during on an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
"We have been awarded the highest level of accreditation on our first survey with CARF with very few recommendations," said Anita Williams, the local Goodwill's human resource and work force development director. "This is very uncommon on your first survey. This successful outcome is a reflection of our dedicated work force development staff, Erin Starnes, Gina Flank and myself. Goodwill Industries of Tenneva has been accredited by Goodwill Industries International the last 34 years."
Goodwill Industries of Tenneva Area is a nonprofit organization with offices at 2017 Brookside Lane. It has been providing employment services in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee since 1972.
CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body. Its mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.
Founded in 1966, CARF establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their program and services.
