Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver's license roadside safety checkpoints on U.S. Highway 421, State Route 75, State Route 347 at Walkers Fork Church, and State Route 93 in Sullivan County through March 17.

Hancock County Schools spring break through March 16.


Dobyns-Bennett Alumni Lunch Bunch, open to alumni, teachers and friends, will meet at 11 a.m. at the Americourt Hotel, Kingsport.


Kingsport Historic Zoning Commission will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Bob Clear Conference Room, 201 W. Market St. Call Ken Weems at 229-9368.


Sullivan County Commission animal shelter committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Sullivan County Courthouse.


Rogersville Water Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Rogersville City Hall.


Surgoinsville Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet at 7 p.m. at Surgoinsville City Hall.


March 13 - Sullivan County elementary schools will register all kindergarten and first-grade students who will attend Sullivan County schools for the first time in the 2007-08 school year. Parents or guardians should bring the child's official birth certificate, immunization record, completed medical examination forms signed by a physician, and Social Security number.

Jim Scott, superintendent of schools, and school board members will be present, and counselors from the three high schools will discuss the scholarships to be awarded in May by the association.
