Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver's license roadblocks on State Route 66 and State Route 70 in Hawkins County through March 15.


Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, Wellmont Health System leaders, elected officials and area small business owners will formally launch CoverTN, the governor's initiative to provide basic health care coverage to uninsured employees of small businesses, at 9:30 a.m. in the Heritage Room, fourth floor of the Regional Heart Center, Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.


Kiwanis Club of Kingsport will meet at noon at the Americourt Hotel, off Stone Drive, Kingsport. Jeanne Zavada will speak on the Gray Fossil Site.


Ross N. Robinson Middle School band and orchestra will hold their instrument placement session for all rising Robinson-bound fifth-graders from 9 a.m. to noon at Robinson Middle School. Call Charlie Herron at 378-2212.


Scott County Humane Society will meet at 10 a.m. at Lynn Garden Restaurant, Kingsport, to discuss its tax-exempt status and fund-raising activities. Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct driver's license roadside safety checkpoints on U.S. Highway 421, State Route 75, State Route 347 at Walkers Fork Church, and State Route 93 in Sullivan County through March 17.
