Ken Crowder, Lonesome Pine Country Club's director of golf, was presented the 2006 Bill Strausbaugh Award by the Tennessee Section PGA during the Club Car luncheon in Franklin on Feb. 26.

The award recognizes significant contributions to the mentoring of fellow PGA professionals.

Crowder has been at LPCC since 1990. He won the Tri-Cities Chapter Strausbaugh Award in 2004, '05 and '06.

Among other awards given, Windyke Country Club's Gregory Hynes received the section's highest honor as Golf Professional of the Year. He was honored for his service to his club, community and section.

Hynes has been a member of the Scholarship Committee since 2001.

Eric Rebmann of Egwani Farms received the section's Teacher of the Year honor. Rebmann ranks among the top five instructors in Tennessee, according to Golf Digest Magazine.

The Golf Channel, Hardee's and Charter Media will host the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt contest at Cattails at MeadowView on March 31.

In its ninth year, the program gives boys and girls ages 7-14 the opportunity to compete in a fun, free event designed to test basic golf skills.

Contestants can sign up at Cattails at MeadowView or East Tennessee Rentals, or go online at www.TheGolfChannel.com.

Onsite registration begins at 1 p.m. on March 31.

The top three finishers in each age group will be invited to one of 20 regional championships. Regional winners will advance to the national championships in the fall.
