BRISTOL - The Bristol Chamber of Commerce recently unveiled its newest initiative with the www.movetobristol.org Web site. It will serve as a resource for individuals interested in relocating to the Bristol area. The site includes sections on Salaries, Education, Health Care, Real Estate, Shopping and Recreation. "Relocation recruitment is an established industry related to tourism. According to national statistics, people looking to relocate visit an area up to five times before they make the decision to move, generating valuable tax revenues which, in turn, lowers taxes for all residents and creates a higher quality of life in Bristol," said Beth Stockner, communications coordinator for the Bristol Chamber of Commerce. The Web site will give online visitors the opportunity to order detailed information through the chamber's relocation package, redesigned in October. The package includes magazines from local businesses such as 101 Things to Do in East Tennessee, Marquee magazine, Connect Now, The Business Journal and GeneratioNext. Also included are several maps, brochures, a Homes magazine, apartment guide, phone book, and Bristol Chamber Membership Directory and Relocation Guide.
NORTON - April Martin has earned certification as an oncology nurse. Martin, a registered nurse at Wellmont Health System's Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center, demonstrated practice in cancer care and passed a training course and written exam to achieve certification. Because certification in oncology nursing is based on current professional practice, it validates that a nurse's knowledge is up to date on the latest treatments available to cancer patients. With her certification, Martin receives the OCN designation as part of her title. Martin joins two other certified oncology nurses at Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center, Nancy Smith and Missy Mullins. The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation handles certification for oncology nurses. ONCC is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
