Prep roundup: Willey, South hand West a 12-point loss

KINGSPORT - Aaron Willey fired up 17 points to lead Sullivan South to a 52-40 non-conference victory over visiting Morristown East on Tuesday night.


Jacob McCann added 12 points for the Rebels (9-18).


Walker Bullington scored 16 points to pace the Hurricanes (10-14).


Tennessee High 60, Crockett 49


BRISTOL, Tenn. - Matt Fleenor and Thomas Turnbull had 13 points each as Tennessee High cruised past David Crockett in Big 9 Conference play.


The Vikings (20-9, 10-6) carried a 50-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.


David Murray had 17 points and Logan Jaynes 14 for the Pioneers (10-18, 3-12).


Lee High 62, Thomas Walker 37



EWING - B.J. Terry fired up 14 points as the Generals picked up a non-district win at cross- county rival Thomas Walker.



Scotty Woliver and Bobby Stafford scored 13 apiece for Lee High (16-4). Chad Skaggs contributed 11 points.



Justin Helton scored 17 points for the Pioneers (12-8), who shot 15-of-65 from the floor.


Lighthouse 67, Clinch 50


KINGSPORT - Chase Vickers dropped in 33 points to lead the Knights to a convincing win over the Wildcats.


Joining Vickers in double digits for Lighthouse (18-3) were Cory Godsey with 11 points and Chris McMurray with 10.


Dustin Murrell's 16 points were tops for Clinch (13-11). Tobey Norris added 12 and Ethan Murrell finished with 10.




Girls


Lee High 52, Thomas Walker 49


EWING - The Lady Pioneers failed to convert a shot at the buzzer, letting the Lady Generals escape with the non-district win.


Lee relied on late free throws to break open a tie game and hold on for the victory. Kayla Rutherford and Julie Day scored 10 each for the Lady Generals.


Kayla Gibson scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Thomas Walker (6-12, 3-5).



Tennessee High 66, Crockett 38


BRISTOL, Tenn. - Tara Tranum scored 18 points as Tennessee High clinched the Big 9 regular season crown.


The win gives the Lady Vikings (24-4, 15-1) the No. 1 seed the District 1-AAA tournament, which will held at Viking Hall.


Lauren Murr led David Crockett (6-21, 0-14) with 17 points.




North Greene 56, Providence 35


GREENEVILLE - The Lady Huskies poured it on early and put the game out of reach before halftime.


Shaleen Platt led North Greene with 12 points while Dakota White finished with 11.


Lyndsie Yontz tallied eight points to pace Providence (10-12).




Lighthouse Christian 30, Clinch 29


KINGSPORT - Trailing by two points late in the game, the Lady Wildcats missed the second of two free throws with four seconds left and watched the Lady Knights run out the clock for the win.


Kristen Cradic led Lighthouse Christian (15-4) with a game-high 17 points.


Danielle Gillespie accounted for more than half of Clinch's offense with her 15-point outing.
