HILTONS - Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine will visit the Carter Family Fold on Saturday to launch a promotional celebration of The Crooked Road: Virginia's Heritage Music Trail.
The governor, with president and CEO of Virginia's Tourism Corporation Alisa Bailey, will tour the Carter Fold and hear Crooked Road musicians who will help launch the new promotion.
Kaine will arrive at the Carter Fold about 7:30 p.m.
"He'll be there for the regular Saturday night show," said Tamra Talmadge-Anderson, Virginia Tourism Corporation director of national media .
James Leva and Purgatory Mountain are playing Saturday at the Carter Fold.
"The governor is a music fan. He's been known to bring his harmonica before," Talmadge-Anderson said.
Kaine will be doing more than listening to the music. He is also unveiling a new promotion of The Crooked Road, Talmadge-Anderson said.
Online visitors will be able to create their own personalized bluegrass lyrics about The Crooked Road, she said.
"It is going to be a way to get music lovers to engage online music lovers so they will come to visit in person," Talmadge-Anderson said. "It will be the first travel Web site to use this kind of technology to promote old-time music like this."
The Carter Fold is located on Route 614 in Hiltons.
