CHURCH HILL - Volunteer's Keith Cradic sank the winning basket with 2.1 seconds left and the Falcons upended Tennessee High 49-47 in Big 9 Conference boys basketball action Tuesday night.
Chadd Browder led Volunteer (17-8, 7-5) with 14 points while Cradic finished with 12.
The Falcons were 12-of-14 from the free throw line. The Vikings finished 5-of-6.
Tennessee High (17-7, 8-4) got 15 points from Corey Young.
BLOUNTVILLE - The Cougars broke open a close game by outscoring the Patriots 30-19 in the fourth quarter of this cross-county matchup.
Wes Baker led Sullivan Central (15-9, 6-4 Big 9) with 18 points. Matt McCrosky added 16.
Isaac Snapp had 15 points for Sullivan East (11-13, 5-7).
JONESBOROUGH - David Murray scored 20 points to lift the Pioneers to the sweep of their biggest rival.
Crockett (9-14, 2-9 Big 9) held the Trailblazers to 17-of-51 shooting from the floor and 2-of-18 from the 3-point line.
Blake Moncier topped Boone (6-16, 3-9) with 16 points.
POUND - Eric Bolling had 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Wildcats past the Blue Knights in Lonesome Pine District action.
Dustin Flemming added 17 points and eight rebounds for Pound (5-12, 4-5). Evan Sturgill dished out eight assists.
Andrew Adkins led Coeburn (7-10, 4-5) with a game-high 27 points. Andrew Pate added 12 and Nick Jennings pitched in with 11 for the Blue Knights.
BIG STONE GAP - Cedric Mitchell scored 13 points and the Vikings (8-8, 3-5) held off the Black Knights to score the LPD upset.
Jacob Coleman paced Burton (9-7, 6-3) with a game-high 15 points. Jay Coleman added 12 and Ethan Stewart chipped in 11.
NICKELSVILLE - The Titans jumped on top early in this Cumberland District matchup and fought back the Pioneers' bid for a rally.
Mark Dockery led Twin Springs (7-8, 3-3) with 20 points. Justin Helton led Thomas Walker (11-6, 3-3) with 13 and Dude Overton added 11.
APPALACHIA - The Indians held off Appalachia's rally in the fourth quarter to pick up an LPD win.
After intercepting an inbound pass with 1.4 seconds left, the Bulldogs (3-14, 2-7) missed a shot that would have tied the game.
Kelly (6-11, 4-4), which had three players with eight points each, went 9-of-14 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
Appalachia's Bud Allen led all scorers with 16 points.
KINGSPORT - The Eagles used a big third-quarter run to take the momentum and win the East Tennessee Christian Athletic Conference game.
Josh Holt scored 13 points while Tyler Winters and Jeremy Williams had 12 each for Tri-Cities Christian.
Collin Addington led Cedar View (9-14, 4-2) with 21 points.
EIDSON - The Mountaineers jumped out to an early lead and held off a late Wildcat surge to come away with the win.
Mark Winegar and Mike Littleford paced Mountain Empire Baptist (10-6) with 24 and 23 points, respectively. Hunter Stine added 16.
Dustin Murrell led Clinch (9-10) with 18 points. Matt Lamb and Tobey Norris finished with 15 and 13, respectively.
CLINTWOOD - Gate City outscored Clintwood 18-5 in the fourth quarter to claim an LPD win in a battle between two of the top Group A girls basketball teams in the state.
Heather Odle scored 15 points to lead a balanced attack for the Lady Blue Devils (15-2, 9-0), who are ranked third in The Associated Press poll. Haley Odle added 12, Tuesdee Woods 11 and Samantha Horner 10.
Kristen Mullins led the 10th-ranked Lady Green Wave (13-3, 6-3) with 10 points.
BIG STONE GAP - The Lady Raiders trailed by two after three quarters but used a strong final period to pick up a key LPD victory over the Lady Vikings.
Shenique Woods' 14 points led the way for Burton (5-9, 3-6) while Courtney Dyer pitched in with 12.
Jessica Horne paced Powell Valley (6-8, 3-4) with 12 points.
POUND - Kearsten Boggs' double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds led the Lady Wildcats to the LPD win over Coeburn.
Becca Balthis pulled down 14 rebounds to go with her nine points for Pound (10-7, 5-4).
For Coeburn (1-13, 0-8), Kayla Mitchell scored 13 points.
APPALACHIA - Kalen Collins scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to propel the Lady Indians past Appalachia in LPD action.
Sarah Saunders also scored 14 points and Kayli Bates added 10 for the Lady Indians (11-4, 6-2).
Leigha Lambert scored 13 and Lauren Howard 11 for the Lady Bulldogs (4-12, 2-7).
NORA - The Lady Eagles built a 49-17 lead at the half on their way to a convincing Cumberland victory.
Shasta Edwards poured in 22 points to pace Rye Cove (13-4, 4-1). Shelley McDavid added 16 points, Cindy Hood 15 and Paige Tester 10 for the Lady Eagles.
Amber Farmer tallied 12 points and 14 boards to pace Ervinton. Her sister Brittany also scored 12, while Ashley Turner finished with 11.
NICKELSVILLE - The Lady Titans rallied from an early deficit to pick up the Cumberland District win.
Emily Kincer had 11 points to lead Twin Springs (2-13, 2-4), which was down by two after the first quarter.
Tiffany Gibson hit a game-high 17 for Thomas Walker (5-10, 2-4).
CHURCH HILL - The Lady Vikings used a third-quarter run to put away a pesky Lady Falcon squad and move into a tie for the Big 9 Conference lead.
Danielle Montgomery hit a pair of 3-pointers to spark the run. She finished with a game-high 18 points for Tennessee High (20-4, 11-1 Big 9).
Cynthia Lawson led Volunteer (5-18, 2-10) with nine points.
JONESBOROUGH - The Lady Trailblazers went 14-for-21 from the field in the third quarter to expand on a 18-point halftime lead and defeat the Lady Pioneers in Big 9 action.
Caroline Deakins hit five 3-pointers and had a game-high 23 points for Boone (12-11, 6-6). Holly Nickels added 13 points, while Megan Caldwell scored 10.
Lauren Murr also sank five 3s, finishing with 17 points for Crockett (5-17, 0-11). Allison Cheney chipped in 14.
BLOUNTVILLE - Erica Blizard scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Lady Cougars to the Big 9 victory.
Christina Howard added 11 for Central (13-10, 6-5), while Whitney Moody finished with 10.
