Prep girls: Tennessee High shoots down Daniel Boone

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Tennessee High beat Daniel Boone 71-63 on Friday night to keep a firm hold on second place in the Big 9 Conference race.


Danielle Montgomery led the Lady Vikings (19-4, 10-1) with 22 points. Kendra Snapp had 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists as THS kept pressure on league-leading Science Hill.


For Daniel Boone (11-11, 5-6), Holly Nickels and Autumn Gillis scored 12 points apiece. Megan Caldwell added 10.


Sullivan South 70, East 49


BLUFF CITY - Down 8-2 early, South mounted a 15-0 run to take control for good.


Samantha Williams led all scorers with 24 points for the Lady Rebels (10-8, 5-6 Big 9), who outscored Sullivan East in every period. Natalie Pickwell added 15 points and Grace Collins 13 for South.


Kelsey Trivett tallied 13 points to pace the Lady Patriots (7-15, 3-8).


Johnson County 79, North 61


MOUNTAIN CITY - The Lady Longhorns had five players finish in double figures in their Watauga Conference victory.


Amy Wilson was the top scorer for Johnson County (2-14, 1-7) with 18 points. April McCloud and Angie Church scored 14 apiece, while Kechia Eller and Kendra Mabe each had 13.


Merissa Williams scored 19 for Sullivan North (3-16, 1-6). Amy Bush added 12 and Keisha Day 10.


Gate City 59, Appalachia 34


GATE CITY - The Lady Blue Devils controlled the entire game against the Lady Bulldogs and remained unbeaten in the Lonesome Pine District.


Tuesdee Woods' 15 points led three players in double digits for Gate City (13-2, 8-0). Haley Odle and Kaitlyn Musick added 13 and 11 points, respectively.


Appalachia fell to 5-10, 2-6.


J.I. Burton 62, Pound 44


NORTON - The Lady Raiders poured it on in the second half to grab the LPD win.


Courtney Dyer was tops for Burton (4-9, 2-6) with 19 points, while Chelsea Forney and Ruth Oviatt each scored 17. Forney and Dyer each collected six steals.


Kayla Balthis and Becca Balthis led Pound (4-12, 4-4) with 13 and 10 points, respectively.


J.J. Kelly 44, Clintwood 34


CLINTWOOD - Kalen Collins had 16 points and six steals as the Lady Indians upended the Lady Green Wave in LPD action.


Lauren Mullins pulled down 10 rebounds for Kelly (10-4, 5-2).


Emili Blevins paced Clintwood (13-2, 6-2) with 18 points.


Castlewood 69, Ervinton 32


NORA - Lauren Evans had 16 points and Kayla Keen 14 for the Lady Blue Devils in their Cumberland District victory.


Becca Ring chipped in 10 points for Castlewood (11-4, 4-0).


Amber Farmer was outstanding for the Lady Rebels (0-13, 0-4), scoring 21 points and hauling down an amazing 25 rebounds.


St. Paul 24, Twin Springs 23


ST. PAUL - The Lady Deacons won this low-scoring Cumberland affair, holding off the Lady Titans at the end.


Chelsea Arrington led St. Paul (16-2, 4-1) with nine points.


Emily Kincer and Keisha Boggs scored six each for Twin Springs (0-13, 0-4).


Lee High 41, Marion 27


MARION - The Lady Generals broke open a close game in the second half to pick up the Highlands District win.


Lee outscored the Scarlet Hurricanes 13-4 in the third quarter to take control of the contest.


Tri-Cities 46, Temple Baptist 42


BLOUNTVILLE - Caroline Boswell scored 24 points to lead the Lady Eagles.


Despite a sprained wrist, Laura Simpson scored 12 points and grabbed 10 boards for Tri-Cities Christian (8-8, 4-1)


Brittany Snow scored 17 for Temple Baptist.
