As a proud Vietnam combat veteran who, along with the other members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 979 of Kingsport, is preparing for Veterans Day, I find it tragic that so many of our fellow Americans fail to remember the true meaning of Veterans Day. This Veterans Day let us all pay our humble respects to recognize the sacrifices they have made for the free America we all love. They went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do. They have cried, they have pained and they have hoped, but most of all they have lived times never to be forgotten. May we never forget these great American soldiers and the country that they loved and served. Bless their family and friends. The veterans of all wars and conflicts have served their country well. Now is the time to honor them!
I hope everyone in our area will remember what Veterans Day is all about. Take part in ceremonies and always remember those who died and fought for your freedom. May we never, ever forget our POWs and MIAs.
