The Times-News is remiss in not printing a different point of view from a physician expert on the topic of Marie Browning’s column whenever it appears in the paper. In her October 28 article, she states, “You should know that I feel most vaccines do more harm than good.” Despite her master’s degree in holistic nutrition, that comment alone would cause many to doubt her credibility on any health issue. The fact is that the diseases that vaccines prevent cause far more harm than the vaccines. This is not the first health topic where she has disseminated misinformation about a disease or the treatment options for the disease. She has a right to her opinion, and you have a right to publish her opinion. However, you owe it to your readers to give them balanced information. Without it, Ms. Browning’s opinions may do more harm than good.

Editor’s note: The writer is correct that (as with letters to the editor) columnists express personal opinion, which readers may explore as they will.

Wonderful to see someone advocating the need for individuals to know the dangers versus the benefits of vaccinations. I’ll be watching for more from Ms. Browning’s views.
