Kingsport woman indicted in robbery of Shell station

Published August 25th, 2009 | 0 Comments

BLOUNTVILLE — A Sullivan County grand jury has indicted a 19-year-old Kingsport woman accused of robbing the Shell station at 2000 N. Eastman Road on March 23.

Cierra Maria Villegas, 19, 1602 W. Sullivan St., Apt. 2, was indicted on a single count of aggravated robbery Tuesday.

Villegas allegedly entered the Shell station at 2000 N. Eastman Road about 3:40 a.m. Police say she demanded money then fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

According to police, Villegas was accompanied by a second female who never entered the store, and they may have left in a four-door white compact car. Police have not identified the second female.

Villegas confessed to the robbery after being arrested in connection with an attempted carjacking at the Quality Car Wash, 517 Lynn Garden Drive, about 9 p.m. March 24.

In that incident, a woman told police she was vacuuming her vehicle when another woman approached and asked her for a ride. When she refused, the woman pulled a handgun and demanded that the victim get in her vehicle.

The victim grabbed her purse, ran to the road and stopped a motorist, who then called 911.

Villegas was located behind a fence at the car wash. She had a BB gun tucked in her pants, police said.
