Video Report - Lightning strikes Liberty Chapel Church in Mount Carmel
The Liberty Chapel Church on Cherry Street in Mount Carmel was struck by lightning Sunday evening.
The strike apparently was responsible for a small fire around 6 p.m. in the attic near the steeple.
Mount Carmel firefighters arrived quickly on the scene and hosed down the blaze.
They then spread a tarp on the ground floor and punched holes in the ceiling to drain out water.
Also responding to the fire were the Church Hill and Carters Valley fire departments.
