KINGSPORT — It’s almost time to don your pearls and bowties for H.O.P.E.’s third annual fundraiser, An Evening at Tiffany’s.

Stella Robinette, president and founder of H.O.P.E., said the community event will help fund the organization’s financial aid programs, which help disadvantaged youth pay for school expenses.

“It helps the youth of our future, to educate them,” Robinette said, “and we’re giving them a hand up, not a handout.”

About H.O.P.E.

H.O.P.E., which stands for Help Our Potential Evolve, was founded in 2008. According to its website, H.O.P.E. is a nonprofit organization with a mission “to connect community resources and help youth (ages 11 to 19) achieve their goals for education, career and service.”

Described as a diverse group of local youth, H.O.P.E. students are taught a variety of life skills to prepare them for college and professional life.

Event details

The fundraiser will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at Taylored Venue & Events, located at 115 Shelby St. in Kingsport. Robinette said the event is not formal, but attendees are encouraged to wear attire inspired by the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Throughout the evening, attendees can enjoy heavy hors doeuvres, drinks, dancing and a silent auction. Robinette said many items will be up for grabs during the auction, including prizes from Anytime Fitness, The Salt Oasis, P&J Antiques, Red Dragon Kenpo Karate and others.

Proceeds

Robinette said this event is one of H.O.P.E.’s biggest fundraisers of the year. All proceeds support H.O.P.E.’s various programs and its scholarship fund, which helps local students in need pay for college.

“The majority of our kids needs this support to go to higher ed, and we’re teaching them things that the school does not teach, like etiquette classes,” Robinette said. “Because in a professional field, you need to know those things, too.”

How to get tickets

Tickets are now available for a $50 donation at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce or Shabby Allie’s Boutique. They can also be purchased from any H.O.P.E. member.

Robinette said tickets can also be purchased at the door on the night of the event.

The event is sponsored by Lipman, Food City, Domtar, Moon Tuxedo, DJ Express and Taylored Venue & Events. For more information, call (423) 276-6541, email [email protected] or visit www.hopetricities.com.
