Family Movie Night coming to Warriors Path

KINGSPORT — Warriors Path State Park is hosting a Family Movie Night event this week, showing a well-loved Dr. Seuss classic free of charge.

But the event is much more than just a movie. The evening’s activities include music, food, a silent auction and a performance by Kingsport’s Sparkle Squad.

The movie will be shown at the amphitheater at Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground on Thursday beginning at dusk. Food trucks will be on hand before the show, and coolers are allowed, though alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Folks are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.


5 p.m. — Music and food trucks and a silent auction for the best seats in the house

6:30 p.m. — Kingsport City Schools’ Sparkle Squad performs

7 p.m. — The silent auction winner will be announced

7:30 p.m. — Park ranger from Warriors Path will present a nature program

8 p.m. — Welcome, music and food trucks

Dusk — The movie begins

According to a news release from Warriors Path, the movie is a Dr. Seuss classic tale about a grumpy, yet charming forest creature who fights to protect his world and shares the enduring power of hope.

The silent auction for the best seats in the house will include four Adirondack chairs, four custom painted designer pillows, a cooler with cold drinks and four food truck vouchers. The starting bid is $100 and all proceeds will go to the playground for equipment replacement and maintenance.
