CLINICS

• TALKIN’ HARDBALL Youth Clinic, featuring National Baseball Hall of Famer and Atlanta Braves pitching great John Smoltz and sponsored by Ballad Health, will take place Tuesday, March 6, from 5-6 p.m., at ETSU’s Thomas Stadium in Johnson City. Registration is free. This informational-style clinic will have ETSU baseball players and staff exhibiting proper baseball techniques and feature a speaking presentation from Smoltz on the field with clinic participants. SIGNUPS

• CHURCH HILL/MOUNT CARMEL/Surgoinsville is registering for baseball (ages 7-8 pitching machine, 9-12 and 13-15) and T-ball (ages 4-6) in February. Bracket is determined by the child’s age as of Sept. 30, 2017; a copy of your child’s birth certificate is required. Registration fee is $20 for city residents and $30 for county residents. Register in the recreation office at Church Hill City Hall from 8 a.m.-5. p.m., Monday-Friday, or online at churchhilltn.gov. Call (423) 357-7010 with further questions.

• BOWL FOR KIDS’ SAKE, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee’s largest annual fundraiser, is coming up this spring at two local venues. Competition is for boys and girls ages 12-19; men and women ages 20-49; and seniors (50-plus). Fee is $20 per player; entry deadline is March 13.
